First post! A little background on me and this project:
Work
I work full-time in corporate client support for high tech associations. Most of my work consists of typing meeting minutes and providing misc. support for my clients. I also do some financial administrative work including creating invoices and processing checks.
Hobbies
- Fishing (mostly for rockfish and lingcod, but I go up to Alaska with my close friend and his family on occasion for salmon and halibut)
- Skiing
- Hanging out with my friends online (video games, watching movies, talking, etc.)
- Going on drives and taking photos (a combined thing)
The Project
My job requires me to type a lot. I spend somewhere between 8 to 16 hours at my desk either working or a combination of work and then playing video games. I realized that with all this time I’m spending at the desk, I could be working towards other projects instead of devoting them to just work and pleasure (video games). I’ve recently begun learning to code via Khan Academy and am restarting my journaling habit to put thought to paper. Journaling really helped me through some rough times in the past and I wanted to get back into it for awhile. Finally, I’m getting back into the journaling mindset and I’m so excited to be back. I’ve decided I’m going to focus on a few things with this blog. These include the following:
- Photography
- Thoughts (life amateur philosophy)
- Experiences (domestic and international travel)
I’m hoping to achieve some semblance of mental clarity through a (current) rough time between work and home balance. Like I mentioned earlier, journaling got me through some tough experiences, and I’m looking to use this tool to get me through this situation as well.
As a reader, you can expect to see me share some personal beliefs about the world, what I want to get out of this life, and how I choose to spend my days balancing work and mental health.
I hope you enjoy this journey with me! I’m so excited to be back into blogging and sharing my thoughts and beliefs with you.
-Alex
